Can’t my Web designer or Printer write the words for me?

Unless they have expertise in copywriting, most printers and designers will ask you to provide the copy (words) for them.

Some printers have copywriters on their team who they can call on to write the copy for you.

Naturally this cost will be in addition to your website design fee.

Just remember  -
Without words – there are no sales!

Some Questions I get asked.

Q: What does a COPYWRITER do?
A:

copywriter writes strategic sales content for all types of business communications such as:

  • Web copy
  • Newsletters
  • Flyers – Postcard mailers
  • Advertisements
  • Press Releases

Graphics, pictures and layout of your publication add the visual appeal however it's the words you choose that actually do the selling for you!

Q: Do you need to work with a Copywriter in person or can you just communicate via phone or internet?
A:

Either method is fine. Many copywriters never meet their client in person. Materials can be faxed or emailed and communication can be either over the phone or via email. I've certainly done both.

Q: I just need a new brochure for my business. Is this job too small?
A:

This will depend on who you choose. Some copywriters work for agencies and may have a minimum work requirement. Freelance Copywriters (such as me) often do small projects for small business which may just be a brochure, a sales letter or website copy.

Q: What does it cost to hire a Copywriter?
A:

Different copywriters charge different fees depending on whether they work freelance (as I do) or are employed by an agency.

From my research, rates can start from as low as $50 / hr to many hundreds of dollars an hour depending on who you choose and their level of expertise. However, most fees are charged out on a "project fee" basis. This means you always know exactly how much a specific project will cost before you agree to go ahead.

With me you'll get quality copy for a reasonable fee. My fees.

Q: Do Copywriters have specific areas of expertise or cater for specific industries?
A:

Some do concentrate on specific industries or media and others cater for all types. I write web and print copy mainly for professional services and B2B businesses.

Q: What guarantee do I have that the ads written by a Copywriter will be successful?
A:

There are never any guarantees in advertising. That's why it's very easy to waste a lot of money on advertising that doesn't work. However, applying the rules of good copy to advertising will increase your chance of a better response.

Q: What if I am not completely happy with what's been written?
A:

Each Copywriting project includes provisions for revisions at no additional charge to you. Because I want you to be completely happy with the final result - (and I'd like to be paid for my efforts), I'll rewrite and tweek the initial draft copy another 2 times. That's providing there's no change to the original brief of course.

Q: Do Copywriters design the graphics and layout of a publication?
A:

Generally No. Copywriters write the words for the materials to be printed but may make suggestions for fonts, layout or whether graphics are necessary. The draft is then forwarded to your graphic designer to create the visual appeal.

Q:

What if I don't have my own graphic designer or printer. Can you recommend someone to do this for me?

A: I can put you in touch with graphic designers and printers that I know and trust to do an excellent job for you.
