What is SEO Copywriting?

Most likely you’ll already know that SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation.

This means optimising your website so it can be found by the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing and others, when your customers type in specific search terms.

The best place to start optimising your website is when your site is first designed.

Most good web designers will have the in depth knowledge of SEO required to get your site off to a good start. Then it's up to you - or a SEO Copywriter, to do the rest.

When it comes to SEO - you'll find there are many different opinions and the focus will be on keywords. Keywords or keyphrases are the terms used to describe the words or phrases your customers type into search engines to find businesses like yours.

While it's difficult to rank highly for popular keywords as they're already being used by your competitors. there are always other less competitive ones you can use to boost your ranking. It's all about knowing which ones your customers are using in their searches.

Once you've discovered what these keywords and phrases are, they can be strategically placed throughout your web copy and blog, if you have one.

Of course there're additional ways to get found on the web. And that means getting involved in Social Media Marketing - especially Twitter and Facebook to build a loyal following of fans.

Tip: - make sure your business is listed with popular online directories.

Many of these offer Free listings so all you need to create a stronger web presence is a little of your time. The more places your business is listed, the more credibility you build up with the search engines.

Here's a list of some popular directories to get you started.

Yahoo Search Marketing

True Local

Hotfrog

Start Local

and of course - don't forget to claim and optimise your Google Places Listing.
